Speakers/Amp Turn off, Can't "Tune"

Well, I was reading the amp manual and I was messing with the knobs, However instead of getting distorted, The amp/subs just turn off and I have to kill the power then restart it just to get it back... Is this how they are, am I doing something wrong? As some of you said in a totally different thread, I have turned off subsonic, Gain is only at the 3rd line even though they told me to put it at 100%, But anything above the 3rd line shuts them down, I have LP Filter at 80hz I don't know what to put it on and the bass EQ is at the first line.

P.S. It's an Alpine MRX100

For one, who said put it at 100%, because they are dumb and wrong. Check your fuses, last I checked when that shit would happen to me it was because it was to much for my electircal or a fuse would pop.

Your subs are wired wrong. The amp is probably 2ohm stable (lowest of most alpines) and you are wired to probably 1 of worse. What subs do you have and how are they wired.
