Get MECP, most shops do not recognize MESA, I earned my MECP basic then a yr later studied and got my advanced. But in all actuality knowledge is key, before I went into business for myself, the shops could care less if I was certified. Only the main stream shops asked....best buy, car toys, places like that.

Chrysler and bmw both use "CAN-bus"

But what is the major difference between the 2?

Ford is also like chrysler.

you mean besides the speed of said BUS? how about one is fiber and the other is twisted pair. Chrysler uses 2 different CAN's, one for safety and the other for the rest of the car. Ford uses 4 systems, safety, engine management, entertainment/HVAC and body control...BMW uses MOST, just as VW, AUDI MBZ and PORSCHE
