trjohnst Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Well I tried out my ports today and strapped my 2 JL 500/1's to my AQ HDC3 15 and was pretty pleased. I have a bit of port noise and some voltage drops, but my SPL increased pretty well. My box is 4.77 cubic ft in volume and I added 2 9.4inch ports in the box from PVC pipe. There is some port noise, but I am pleased for now. Like most of us, this will only last for a couple days until we figure out how to advance to the next level. My amp is on low signal strength because I use a crappy Eonon DVD head unit and Im pretty sure it doesnt put out 4v. I noticed some clipping after a while and turned my gain down to about 1/4 of my gain, so I should be good now, but my amps are at full potential I am looking for some help on how to get more out of my box and equipment. Maybe use a 90 degree adapter and extend my port tubes, add extra battery (a little afraid I might screw it up), add more ports, etc. My ports are at 4inch diameter too, incase that helps. I plan on selling my JL 450/4 or both 500/1's and get a AQ 2500 or something around that quality. So if anyone has some suggestions, with some calculations (instead of just saying "add 1 more port) and dimensions, I would love to hear and and get to work because I am finishing another semester and summer is about to come in 2 days! Is the 4.77^3 gross or net volume? Gross I believe. It is 4.77 ft cubed with nothing in it. I believe that 2 9.4" L 4" ID tuned me to about 34. are you saying add 2 6" or 1 8" or just take the ones out and use of those 2?
