C.Sanchez.A
I have a paire of 6.5 components and want to add a mid rang speaker inbetween the mid bass and tweeter. How would I hook it up? Robert8252
You need a 4 channel amp and a 2 channel amp. Need to be able to set a bandpass for the midrange, low pass for the mid bass, and high pass for the tweeter. Frequency depends on driver. Do either two amps with really good xover settings or a good processor. C.Sanchez.A
Ok so it is possible. Thanks for the response! With the processor I would only need one 4 channel amp? Robert8252
No. Still a 4 channel and 6 channel. Each speaker has to have it's own power source and crossover settings. You would control the midbass by the amp alone setting the loquats filter between 500hz-1khz and the processor to control the midrange bandpass and tweeter highpass Quote 2013 F150 Crew Cab Old Build Log Feedback 2013 F150 Equipment - Some Awesome Stereo Sound Making Stuff
C.Sanchez.A
What if the component speakers already have their own xovers and alls I want to do is add a speaker to the set. newb
you "could" use ur comp set as normal(passive), and hook your midrange to an amp/processor with bandpass capabilities. might be hard to blend them in with the comp set though... idk 4 channel amp -> comp set on 1+2, midrange on 3+4 (if your amp has bandpass capabilities there is no need for a processor.) you would be running 4/6 passive + 2/6 active however. idk if thats a good idea or not... i really have no experience in car audio but it is an idea for you to look into. Kevin M
What if the component speakers already have their own xovers and alls I want to do is add a speaker to the set. If they have their own x-overs than you can power them as you normally would. A good bandpass xover built into an amp will give you the flexibility you need. All you really need than is a 4 channel amp with all the fixins. That will allow you to run the components sets on two channels and the other 6.5" on the other two channels.
