46panel
So I have tried to find this out, but don't understand it. I have read that to tune the 4th order it depends on the port length in the ported chamber. The concern I have is that so many bandpass walls I see the port length is so short and no where near how long it would seem like it needs to be to be tuned so low. Thinking of doing a 4th order bp wall with my 4 18's and the ported chamber is looking like it will come out to about 22cubes and I want it tuned to 45hz, but it says that it would need to be around 10" in length with a 450" port. Keep seeing people say that the port length in a BP should be like 6" maximum and I just don't get how I can make mine so short and still keep the tuning down. fecupe2001
Exactly the same thing i wanted to know for some time now, i´ve built a couple of 4th order´s with great succes, they were small boxes tho, i´ve seen A LOT of walls and i don´t see any port lenght, such as mr P´s wall, of course, i don´t know their exact spaces, but i haven´t seen a port with something like 10 inches depth like Krys needs, why´s that?? 46panel
Yea most of them I've seen are all so short which confuses me, but I asked on another forum and was told to just go with what it says it needs to be. Dunno tho? Dunno tho? Look at Hanks, irpirate's, or Crickets ports. Theirs are all longer than 6 inches.

Yea that would be the best I know, it's just I don't have access to a termlab. Did yours do better with more or less port area and how much did you have and what'd you tune it to? Krys, now stop asking questions and build that shit Lol it's kris man but yea I probably will start sometime within a months time Quote 1946 Chevy Panel Truck: For Sale 1999 Ford Explorer XLT Subs: Ten Obsidian Audio 15's Sub Amps: Five American Bass 120.1's Speakers: American Bass mids and selenium tweeters Speaker Amp: Mb Quart Dsc4125 Electrical: DC power 250amp alt, 6 batteries http://www.youtube.com/user/46panel

46panel
Haha yea and just got a message from Mike Singer saying to start with 350" of port area compared to the 450 I was originally thinking. I know with a smaller port I'd be able to get the length down and I know he KNOWS his BP's but just curious why only 350. That'd give me like 16" of port per ported cub if it was 22 cubes. fecupe2001
I honestly haven´t try bigger than 18SQ per cubic feet on a 4th order, i´ve seen A LOT of people saying a 4th order needs 14-18SQ of port per cubic feet, you said last night you wanted way bigger than that, who recommended you going that big? singer knows!!
