iKidwell
after shipping 2 18" hdc3's are going to be almost just as much as 4 level 3 15's..and i'd rather fork up the other extra amount of money for more cone area and power handling. Quote c'mon now, if i was shooting an 8 year old, it wouldnt be MY 8 year old. i recently got a Pyle PL1590BL and i was building an enclosure for it tuned to 25 hz. i didn't have any tools to cut a circle so i hit it with a big hammer. 2003 Infiniti G35 Sport Sedan Build in Progress

bassrace
4 15s would be more work. But hey who doesnt want a challenge lol. It would be a lot more cab area being used though Edited May 27, 2011 by bassrace Quote 145.9@40hz 145.3@34hz big 3 X2 group 34 Deka Group 31 All 0/1 awg jl meta wire Alpine CDA 7894 Orion HCCA D5000 2 AQ HDC312's Crunch gpv1100.2 (for 6.5"s only) AQ pro audio 6.5" - 3 sets AQ supertweeters - 2 sets 2000 Slamry

Didnt realize. didnt look. Just trying to help out. Is mentioning other brands is against the rules? Im not bashing dc Just putting suggestions out there nothin wrong wit dc at all CS is great. But AQ is too. 2 things i love about both Quote 145.9@40hz 145.3@34hz big 3 X2 group 34 Deka Group 31 All 0/1 awg jl meta wire Alpine CDA 7894 Orion HCCA D5000 2 AQ HDC312's Crunch gpv1100.2 (for 6.5"s only) AQ pro audio 6.5" - 3 sets AQ supertweeters - 2 sets 2000 Slamry
iKidwell
4 15s would be more work. But hey who doesnt want a challenge lol. It would be a lot more cab area being used though you can get away with 3 cubes per level 3 15, aq subs like big boxes..the 18's like about 7 cubes from what i hear..so before displacements for the dc's you'd only need 12, while aq, especially since he wasn't running a lot of power to them, would want 14 or more.. bassrace
The AQ and big box theory is not exactly true, also with the high tuning thing. I like mine in a smaller lower tuned box then recommended. Pretty sure theres a thread discussing that issue also. But its all up to the listener and install dependent. They're real peaky in big higher tuned boxes. iKidwell
i've never used aq, but i've used DD and the 9518g i had didn't sound right until it was in 7.5 cubes @ roughly 37 hz..and i had ~2500 on it, and my 3512's didn't sound right until they had about 2.5 cubes each @ ~36 hz... bassrace
My 2 hdc3 12s are in a 4.6 cuft with 73cuin of port tuned to 32hz. I tried 4.3@36hz and 5.5@38hz before hand. all designed by mike at AQ. 4.6@32hz takes the cake in my setup.( In a trunk sealed off into cabin). Diff experiences diff installs. Good luck OP in deciding ur system bro Quote 145.9@40hz 145.3@34hz big 3 X2 group 34 Deka Group 31 All 0/1 awg jl meta wire Alpine CDA 7894 Orion HCCA D5000 2 AQ HDC312's Crunch gpv1100.2 (for 6.5"s only) AQ pro audio 6.5" - 3 sets AQ supertweeters - 2 sets 2000 Slamry
