mast240 Posted May 25, 2011 Report Share Posted May 25, 2011 ight guys... as many of you know.. i'm building a beast.... 6 AQ 18's in a montero.... here's what i'm trying to figure out i was originally trying to go all AQ... i was going to go with 2 AQ 3500d1's... and run about 9kw to the subs after looking over prices, prices and more prices, here is my dilema i can get the same amount of wattage out of audiopipe, for almost half the price... now, i know that they arent really comparable to the AQ'S... but with everything else i'm doing on this build, any money i can save helps... so here's the question: those of you with experience with both amps, do you think i would notice a huge difference in the two amps? and if so, please elaborate on what... this build is going to be a ground pounder, but i'm also hoping to get around 160db's out of it... not sure if that would even be possible with the audiopipes, but i'm not sure (never run THAT much power with audiopipe) any advice helps guys current build: 99 bagged montero sport subs: 4 AQ HDC3 18's, walled in a clamshell box amps: subs- 2 modded AQ 2200's, running 2550 at 1 ohm each components: (rf p1 8:(midbass), 2 cadence cwm 6.5, memphis pr 6.5 coax)- each door HU: android galaxy tablet, Kenwood KVT-516 2/0 gauge ran all around 6 optima red tops (will be updated, i get them DIRT cheap) keeping my fingers crossed for membership into the 160 db club! And if your comparing AQ to AP then maybe you should reconsider building something that serious. i'm not comparing the two... there is no comparison... bokeson Posted May 25, 2011 Report Share Posted May 25, 2011 audiopipe does make some good amps. and you know audiopipe is a more "budget amp" so I'm sure there will be a difference. i mean come on budget amp vs. high end amp. but if your wanting to save money go with audiopipe. The only reason people think they arn't is because there is no middle man, so AQ is cheap compared to Sundown DC AB etc etc etc. Nick is also a DC nut hugger i resolve to be a nicer moderator.
