my options to run my re se 12 are eather almost 400 rms at 8 ohms from my amp or a grand at 1ohm. how do i run a grand to an se from an ap1800 safely.

ive read using a smaller box on more power is better. anytime the sub gets stinky i turn it down. the settings on the amp are as follows gain is about half tested it with a dmm dont remember what the voltage was soposed to be but ik it was set right. no bass boost at all. lpf is to the lowest it an be on the amp wich is 40 hz . subsonic is about 1/4 the way up considering the max is 50hz ima say i have it at about 20 ish.

U could run it at 1 ohm and use a dmm to get the power u want

Lpf should prob be around 80hz. But thats just a matter of preference. Smaller boxes and sealed boxes are usually an answer if you want to run more power than rated to a sub. And keep that bass boost off unless u know exactly what ur doin

Have you tested to see where your hu clips at maybe thats causing the coil smell

this is what i did. i found a thing saying impedence by wattage so i wanted to run 800 x 2ohm load = 1600 then find the square root of that think it was 32. something then use that to set your gain to that voltage
