People say 1500RMS is fine on stock electrical

Recommended Posts

I did all that and get a sub with better cooling? that makes no sense they have power handling for a reason... I shouldnt need a better sub to run rated. If this doesnt run 1500RMS dave owes me $450 lol Im not gonna run a BTL to get 1500RMS just because it can take a 1500RMS clipped signal without getting warm... I bought a 1500RMS sub for 1500RMS i can only say this so much lol

Im not even gonan question my woofer anymore I know its rated it can handle it easy its something in the setup or electrical that ive missed what COULD cause this thats not related to my subwoofer?

I posted other things about electrical.

other things might be shitty ground, bad power wire, bad connections

as to the sub.. not all power ratings are perfectly true...

i didnt read all the posts, but have you even checked what your voltage is playing full tilt? at the alt, batt, and amp? test each one to see how your voltage is and to see if one is lower than the others.

you might also wanna try to run a ground wire along with the power wire back to the amp.

That was before man havnt updated my sig I was gonna get one for my bday cause i needed an alt but didnt... I have checked voltage its 13.2 at lowest accross the board sometimes 12.5 at the lowest idle. and Dave from PSI built and tested it he says it does 1600RMS daily and im running 1500RMS or less so you're saying Dave who built my subwoofer is a LIAR and his tests were lies?

But Ill try some suggestions and report back tommorow keep em coming guys...

Plain and simple if you are getting the woofer hot, you are likely clipping the shit out of it. Where is your bass boost set at and all your filters. And the power handling number is great, but really doesn't mean shit, if you are clipping it hard.

I agree whcih is why I said i think im clipping lol... Subsonic is set to 30. LPF is set to 80 everything is flat man bass is 0 i never use bass boost Honestly though I cant read my amplifier too well theres only a min and max one ach setting so I put LPF at half and Subsonic at 1/4. I dont even have a bass knob lol amplifier gain is less than half of half...

How do I check my grounds with a DMM so I can check my battery ground AND amplifier ground.

You dont check grounds with a DMM. You either did them right or wrong..

What is your box tuned at? Fs of the sub means nothing about how low you can play if your box is tuned to 50hz..

MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..."

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.

Also what size is the speaker wire going to this sub? And you CAN check grounds with a DMM.

DMM set to DC voltage

Step 1 - Place meter pos lead on pos stud of battery, neg lead on neg stud of battery, record reading

Step 2 - Leave pos lead on pos stud of battery or amp 12v+ and move neg lead to your grounding locations, this reading should be same as reading in step one

Step 3 - If step 2 is more then .5 volt difference then step 1, bad connection point, so make it better
