layzeepinoy23
Just picked up a used Kenwood KVT617 for $100, anyone know at what volume it starts to clip at? Will be putting it in tomorrow and it would be nice to know. I'm pretty sure it has a max volume of 35. Thanks.

layzeepinoy23
is that the clipping point or just what you use to be safe? The pioneer I have in the other car goes up to 1 right below max (can't remember exact number) before clipping, tested with an oscope that I don't have access to anymore

layzeepinoy23
assuming both decks are fairly similar, thats a pretty big difference volume wise. Are you guys running speakers off the hu or separate amp? Ill be using an amp for my install today, I'll check back in when I'm done. layzeepinoy23
Finally got around to installing everything; RE 6.5c front, RE 6.5 rear off a Planet Audio BB175.4, 2 RE SEx 10s off a Planet Audio RXD1400. Gains set with a DMM, HU volume set at 30 w/ eq flat and I have no audible distortion. I talked to a local KW dealer as well as a KW customer support regarding HU clipping point and rca rms voltage and got different answers from both. Dealer: HU clips at 32/35 @ ~2.5-3v rms front/rear, 32/35 @ ~2.5-3v subs +2 CS: claims the HU will not clip 35/35 @ ~4.5-5v Haven't had a chance to check rca voltage meself just yet.
