skittlesRgood
They're not horrid.. but I hope you didnt pay a lot for them. Probably do well in about 3 cubic feet each depending on how much power you're feeding them. do you know what your talking about? DLS = high end sq worth the money Aluminum cone, SQ? Unfortunately most aluminum cones are not engineered well enough to be used for SQ, let alone for over $1000. The rest of the parts there total maybe $250. european prices are WAY different than here. aluminum cones sure as hell can be used for SQ. it all depends on the type of sound you want. how is a paper cone any more "engineered" than a metal one? They tend to be stronger and flex/resonate less, though it is still possible depending on construction method. Paper cones that are strong are easy to come by and can be produced quite cheaply. Aluminum cones which dont flex or resonate are not and also have high production costs. Why do you think most high performance drivers still use paper or a mix/derivative thereof? If you watch this closely beginning at 3:15+ you can see the influence of mechanical limits from the surround.. at 4:10+ its really easy to watch since it slows down. This is a VERY strong cone as well. It is a woven fiberglass front with pressed paper backing. An aluminum cone experiencing this would have likely folded or creased. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed. STEvil
and since when does abusing the piss out of a sub have anything to do with SQ? If you're spending $1K+ on a sub it should be built either to withstand some abuse, or to be damn good SQ. The nobelium 15's are neither.
