Rection Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 so i traded into this colt commander lightweight a week ago (1962 serial number), and it seemed like a good candidate for some customizing. ive been carrying a glock 23 here lately, but deep down inside, i have been itching to get back to a 45acp 1911. i like to work on guns, so in a week i have got alot done on this thing. before: i have refinished the slide, done trigger job, refinished the frame, all hardware is being swapped to stainless (still gotta get the extended thumb safety and extended magazine catch), ed brown beavertail, bobtailed with snakeskin pattern on the MSH, removed metal under the trigger guard to help get higher grip, wilson combat hammer, nighthawk trigger, and i flared the magwell, and i made some bobtail cocobolo grips in our "western checker" pattern. id say she's coming along nicely. after: Owner of BigAss Ports

If you did this to a gun and turned around and sold it, how much would this cost someone? hmm..... well ill base my response off of this particular one here.... i could find the gun for about $600. parts would probably run about $200. takes about 3 hours to do this much work, and id sell it for $1100, which is what its worth. book value on this gun, in the condition i got it, is $1000. but for any of joo on smd, id do the work cheaper if you FFL'ed your gun down here. if you had a 1911 you wanted done, you could just send the gun and the parts down here, and id do it for $100 labor charge. a gunsmith with a business would charge you atleast two hundred for it.
