Breedwell Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 So I just purchased (well, have made plans to meet up with the guy to purchase) a DC lv4 15" subwoofer. Looking at DC Audio's site, the level 4 handles 1k RMS/2k peak at 1 or 2 ohms. So I should look for an amp that produces something over 1k RMS at 1 or 2 ohms to match the sub, right? I know this sounds silly but when one looks up "picking the right amp" on google, the articles/tips never seem to include matching it up to the equipment the amp is used to compliment. Also, I've been tipped to get an AQ1200D to match the sub, but is there other (cheaper potentially) amps I could look into? So much to learn...

J/K AQ 1200 would be a great amp for it, and it could handle more, but you want to be sure your box is built right and your electrical will handle it. Cheaper than AQ, yes there are some, but not many people here will recommend it. You have a good sub, back it up with a good amp. I've seen audio equip priced much more, I just wasn't sure if there was a cheaper amp of quality on par with Audioque equipment. Honestly I'm just really getting into the audio equipment scene. I have some home theater equipment; that's about the extent of my knowledge. Just by lurking around SMD, I can tell that DC Audio makes some bomb ass stuff. I'll pick up on the do's and do not's as I read and experience more. So much to learn...
