kam311 Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Okay so I have a 01 dodge cummins diesel that comes standoard with 2 batts. I'm trying to figure out how to exactly do the big three on my truck. I pretty much understand just about everything but there is one thing I'm not sure about and I havnt seen an answer in other forums... My positive that goes from 1 batt to the alternator connects to the trucks fuse box first, it steady looks like a pretty beefy 4ga wire, should I just leave that how it is and just do all the grounds? And if I should change something on that part, please tell me what? I was kinda worried about just bypassing the fusebox with my 0ga... Thanks so far... FaTbOy911 Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 U need an anl fuse and u can still leave the 4ga wire it wouldnt hurt to keep it Had an estimate of 6400 for an alpine/clarion setup dealer said it "should" hit around 160db with the custom boxes he was going to make for me..doubtful with so much area to move but, budget is way below that any ideas on cheaper brands for that kind of Spl setup? really didnt want to try any Boss or soundstorm, thinking Quantum figure around $150 per speaker "$1800 total" and $1700 to power it, first actual big setup for the van. Nine8SST Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 On your truck, that wire going into the fuse box IS going into a fuse. If you open up you will see that it goes in, attaches to probably a 140amp fuse, then there is a wire on the other side of the fuse coming out to the battery. kam311 Posted June 20, 2011 Author Report Posted June 20, 2011 I definatly do mind running that risk haha, and okay that's really why I have been holding off on the big 5 (and since I have the 2 batts it's like a big 8 lol) because I asked a couple of the car audio "installers" her and one told me to bypass it and the other told didn't know what it was and then tried to sell me a PA bamf amp for $350 haha I'm like WTF?!?! so far...
