Needin' some box help.

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I am thinking about building a new box for my L7 12s. I have the factory kicker box right now but I am thinkin I want somethin more flashy. I would like to build a box with one port like the one below but I do not know how to figure the airspace and how to tune it for two subs instead of one? I dont know if I am explaining this very well but any help would be appreciated. Also what should I tune my port to? 30-35 hz? Thanks.

I still say you should ditch the back seat man, 4 bolts and 5 mins. easy to put back in if you change your mind!

If we knew your dimensions it would help.

Here's one idea, I know you have a truck so I went by what I could fit in my backseat

20h x 50w x 16d

Port: 16.5h x 4.5w x 26l (L port so figure end correction when you build)

That's figuring for 1 extra baffle and bracing. Be around 5.3 net 34hz w/ 15.66 in^2 port per cube.

Looks fine to me, I'm assuming thats plexy on this side panel? You'll need to accommodate for it on the plans. A friend of mine did something similar but cut out the MDF on the side wall, made the front wall longer did MDF|Plexy|MDF so the internal volume was the same, but had the look he was wanting. So essentially if you where using .75" plexy and MDF cut your front piece 1.5" longer to cover both pieces and you'd never notice it.

Yeah I accounted for it when I was running the numbers. So this port will act like a port to both subs and wont over exert the sub closer to the port opening will it? did you freind put LEDS inside his box by chance?

Did it look pretty awesome? Would painting the inside be the best?
