REaudioBuff
Ok so I have not O-scoped my system but i did clamp my amp and im only using maybe a 1/4 of full power outta my addictive audio 500.1 so ya... I'm wondering if clipping is the only reason a sub gets warm or if overpowering it would do so as well? I have the filter set @28hz and box is tuned @34 and it plays down to 28 perfectly. At full tilt driving around voltage drops to 12.8 at the lowest on the hardest low notes. I'm able to do a 20oz gatorade bottle trick while driving The sub sounds amazing and its the best system I've ever had but just wondering if there is anything else i can do to improve the cooling of sub? or change something reclamp idk whatever it takes. I would just like to stop making the sub heat up. It doesn't smell just warm dust cap. deeje
Your probably clipping. You can clip off of 50 watts Quote --2004 Toyota 4runner New Build Log -2002 Acura Tl-S Old Build Log Team DC Audio spl dust is an option you can get on the coils... it's great for extra 1000 watts of power where can i get this spl dust and how much is it. is it hard to apply? lol
Socky
Thats normal, more power you run, the more heat your gonna have. As long as the subwoofer isnt smelling you should be fine. Remember, play it until it smells expensive Quote Jeep Cherokee 4dr -4.75 in front, new rusty's 4.5 in rear leafs -micky thompson 35x14.50x15 -locker rear -Rusty's offroad Engine/transmission/transfer case/crossmember/gas tank skid plates -Warn front bumper with 8000lb winch -Custom rear bumper -Warrior product tube doors (summertime) -Optima redtop (starter) -26XK miles and still runs like a bat out of hell Kenwood H/U 1/0 wire, 136 amp alt 200 ah batteries 12.7 daily 2 Apsm 1500 @ 2 ohm strapped on zv3 d1 with ns softparts Mb quart 125.4 wired to 4 aura 6's 3.6 cube box tuned to 36 plays down to 23hz

252chevyboyz
Yea I was thinking clipping might be the problem also. Glad it is sounding good for you though. An Oscope can def help tune your system for the best sound and less heat. I got to currently Oscope my system i have currently. Hope you can get the heat issue fixed and dont forget to run that A/C in the car Quote - 1997 Chevy Tahoe- Big 3 (1/0)- Dual Autocraft Batts- JVC KD-A315 HU- AQ 2200.1D- 18" AQ HDC3- Box w/ Removable Port (6ft^3 @ 36hz & 6.7ft^3 @ 42hz)- 39' 1/0 & 13' 2/0 Flex-A-Prene My Selling Feedback Build Log
