max785 Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Hi , I have a problem with my amp (aq1200d running 2 sa-12" 's) . When I turn up the volume my clipping light on the remote start to light . The gain on my amp is at half way , and even if I put the the remote at the minimum it will start clipping at 44-48 depending of the song . I have voltage drop , and my headlight dim . Some people told me that was a bad ground , some told me to do big 3 , and other's upgrade the batterie or the alt , or put a 2 farad cap also ( I know cap are bad ) . So I need big help here . Decaf Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 (edited) if you'r talking on the HU the bass level is at 4 on 6 and the sub level setting is at 0. turn bass level to 0, thats likely the culprit use sub level, never bass level if you want/need more rca voltage if you are using stock speakers on headunit power than obviously you can only turn them up as much as they sound good, but headunit should go up to mid 50s to get full voltage out of ur headunit with everything at 0/flat incase you didnt know, u can set your gain with the remote knob... basically turn the knob to 3/4 up, headunit at max clean volume and play a few of the loudest songs u will ever play. simply turn gain up til the light flickers solid red, but doesnt stay red. then when u go to use the stereo daily u have a bit extra knob turn for quiet songs to turn up and you have alot of room if a song is heavily clipped or very loud and you can back off. just never go slight past flickering and youre good. every song will be different, so it will clip at different knob settings all the time Edited July 1, 2011 by Decaf Quote
