trjohnst Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 So for my new toy, a LS1 GTO, I need to add a little bump, but dont have experience with OEM headunits. Its a 04, hence the ls1, and I want to keep the blaupunkt radio/speakers. I sold my w6's with my mustang and the rest with the SR20, I now have my Accord stuff and some left over subs. Im putting in 2 10" RF P1's in the small trunk of the Goat but have no experience with inline converters and converting stock headunits to run RCA's and remote wires. Can someone let me know a good/cheap inline converter for this car (Im sure about any would work) and what else I need to do in order to get my radio ready to go with my subs. I dont know where to run the REM wire and the RCA's on the Goat. What I think I know is this: get an inline converter, use the rear speakers or speaker to power the converter, run those speaker(s) wires into the converter, then run the RCA's from the converter to the amp. For the remote wire, find a wire that has power when the car is on, and has 0 volts when the car is off. It gives you better power to your amp, and easier install of RCAs, and remote wire. I saw your converter, but it looks really cheap, too cheap to put in a nice car like this one lol. But I have seen people do their Remote wire through the fuses, like the Stereo Aux fuse, Stereo fuse, SEO (stereo on) fuse, etc. This is not a bad idea, but its so flimsy. I might just have to do it that way though.
