AA98hoe
I'm an electrician by trade and even though 12v is different the theory is the same you have a circuit .(amps being the load) the easyiest way to think about electricity flowing is like water. It will take the easiest lest restrictive path copper is a way better conductor of steel (frame) the frame will work but dedicated grounds are best look at the top people that are loud and tell me what they do. I have 10 runs and need 2 more but I only drop .2 full tilt on 12k clamped watts you should be ok if it drops bad add the ground runs if not then your fine. I also ground to frame front and back and from alternator bracket TEAM DC AUDIO VEHICLE:98 chevy tahoe 2wd 3-4 drop HEADUNIT:alpine 9886 PREAMP:arcaudio FRONT STAGE:4-6 1/2s selinium,DD component set and 4-selinium tweeters in each door KICKPANELS:jl audio 5 1/4 REAR DOORS: dd components 6 1/2s HIGHS AMPS:zapco 750.2 on front doors, zapco an another 750.2 on kicks and rear doors SUBS:4-ascendant audio 18s with 5 spiders in a custom box built by KINGSUV SUB AMP: 2-dc7.5s ALTERNATORS: 3-mechmans 1- 425comp, 1-smd spec350, 1-270 with adj voltage harness on custom dc bracket WIRE:10-runs 0g front to back BATTERIES:6-d1400s TL results:157.1 at 38hz and 156.8 at headrest score @37hz. fli_noize
So I managed to find a post where somebody had emailed JL Audio about grounds and they said that even on a full-frame vehicle like a Suburban the resistance of the frame is only as good as what you'd find with 4-gauge wire. So I'll stick to running dedicated ground wire to the front. I think that's a load of bologna man. Most of the guys you see around here are grounding to the frame myself included. I used to ground to the front, but after finding the real cause of my amps blowing the hell up I moved the ground back to the rear and it's disco. Why were your amps blowing up? Talk about scared I have 10 runs with no fusing lol as long as you secure it and take the time to avoid hot spots and other potential hazards you will be golden. flashlight_65
I think you might have space to fuse behind the alts. Check out my build log and see if my pelican case "fuse block" idea could work for your application, I'm sure you'll put a bad ass spin on it. Outstanding work by the way.
