testing an amp?

so i found an mrp-m1000 that im interested in buying, and i want to make sure that its fully functional before i buy. only problem is, i have no wire run in my new car yet, and the seller recently ripped out his old wiring for a new build, so we cant just hook it up and go. he says hes got an extra battery to show that it will actually power on, but how can we test to see if itll actually play music? he said something about hooking up a volt meter to show that theres current across all terminals. would that work?

The only real way is to hook it up man with the proper wiring. You really wont know fully until you test it like you'd normally hook it up.

The only real way is to hook it up man with the proper wiring. You really wont know fully until you test it like you'd normally hook it up.

Not really. You won't be running a ton of power through it. Hook it up to the battery with a short run of wire and see if it powers up. Run a jumper wire from the positive to the remote wire. It should power on.

You can even check to see if you get a signal. Drop the gain all the way down. Hook a speaker up, and connect an Mp3 player to the inputs. Headphone jack to rca cable is needed for that.

I'm not saying install it in your car like this. This is just to see if the inputs are functional, if sound is output, and if it even powers on. Just keep half an eye on the wire to see if it will heat up. I doubt it will heat enough to cause a problem though.
