OK to run a CS144 and CS130 at the same time?

Recommended Posts

I have a stock CS130 on my truck in the factory location, I fabbed up a CS144 on the other side of the motor and have been using just it. I plan to add a second CS144 in the future but for the meantime would it be okay to hook the 130 up along with the 144?

You will be alright. Just make sure to wire the plug correctly for the 2nd alt.

The cs144 is a larger case alternator, usually are 140amps.

The cs130 alt is a smaller case alt and normally are 105amp units.

Both alternators use the same style plug iirc, also use the same groove pully (however dimensions of the pulleys maybe differ)

and due to the 12oclock and 6oclock mounting ears on the cs144 alt, it will make adding it much easier.

Also make sure to use a piece of power wire to connect both alternators together on the positive charging stud on the back of the alternator.

Okay thanks guys. I wasn't sure if it'd be fine to use them both at the same time since the 130 never seemed to do the voltage the 144 does. I'm pretty sure I have the plug wired right. Sense wire and the other pin for use without the light.

I'll throw a fuse between the 2 and connect 'em together this weekend and see how it does.
