Grelko
The grand tour, TONS of bodywork to do, and the interior is going to take forever also. the new center support bearing and the proform air filter kit are in among some of the pics, so is my old system don't hate on the prefab box lol, got it for $10 about 12 years ago...and those damn holes in the floor. The space where the 2x4 frame is, is right around 53W x 36H x 48L "53 cubes" The OSB I put up on the walls and doors will be taken back off again and replaced with better hopefully sanded birch plywood or oak, cedar etc. if budget allows or atleast something that wont start falling apart like the OSB pressed wood does. wasn't bad for only $6 per 4x8 just to see how the walls will look. Before anyone says something, all the aluminum flashing will be tore off as i get pieces welded, they are just covering up some real bad spots so it doesnt look quite as horrible lol. CleanSierra
8 lug wheels huh? Those G30's are on a 1 ton frame? It should have no problem handling the weight of everything that goes inside of it. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you. Grelko
ya, its the 1-ton she's a beast lol, I think it used to have duals on the back but I can't be sure on that, all I know is, that when I got new drums for the back tires, it seems as if it was replaced with the back end of a 79 cause the 84 drums didnt fit, but the 79s do. iirc the G10 is 1/2, G20 is 3/4, G30 is 1-ton, I could be wrong about the other two Optimus XL-400w amp 2x 10s IMPP 400w 2x something or other in dash 2x 35w radioshack 8" full-range AcDelco factory radio "frankenstein'd from my dead buick" Dodge seats 1984 Chevy G30 full size 1-ton van "Rust Monster" Progress - around 15% primer/patching Sold the van in 2014, had it about 75% done, never did get the system in it. Grelko
Bought more sanded plywood for the walls, sanding discs for working on patched spots on the exterior. Been looking through diff types of paint. Someday, new rims hammered finish or chromes? Van darkest metal-flake black/green so you can only see the green from certain angles. REALLY need to measure space up front. Thinking ahead a good number of months/years depending on how much I can actually save up. headunit... definately going to need better alternator"s" 12-15 speakers in the dash not sure on sizes yet. sliding door too thin to have speakers.... 3x? 8" mids in each of the front doors at the very bottom 2-4 small tweeters between sun visors and a backup camera? completely re-do dashboard or just do cut outs? multi switchpad bottom of dash Absolutely no idea on lighting yet... 8-16 or more 12"s in the back, 6-10 midranges, 8-10 tweeters and some horns in the walls in front of the subs? Air conditioner install? probably costs more than the van did lol. back to now... call welder in morning, Optimus XL-400w amp 2x 10s IMPP 400w 2x something or other in dash 2x 35w radioshack 8" full-range AcDelco factory radio "frankenstein'd from my dead buick" Dodge seats 1984 Chevy G30 full size 1-ton van "Rust Monster" Progress - around 15% primer/patching Sold the van in 2014, had it about 75% done, never did get the system in it. Grelko
Well... the welding places I checked into, basically everywhere wanted around $1.2 - $2k+ which would have crushed about 75% of my budget. So I called up friend of the family, the guy who did the center support bearing and will be helping with that ball joint, my personal mechanic lol. He called up a couple of his friends who weld, and im getting it done for the cost of materials a couple pizzas and gettin them drunk, so that'll save me a TON I tore EVERYTHING back out of the van yet again to get ready for welding and took more pics, didn't think I had that much wood piled in there, check out the OLD amplifier.. its gotta be atleast 20 pounds and only 400 watts if its pushing anything even close to that. Gave the OSB pressed wood I bought the other day to the neighbor, and got a couple pieces of the better wood for the interior, but it's going to sit in the garage for a couple days lol The old amp Took about five hours to get everything out.... got a pound of screws back lol IMO, the ceiling looks half decent for just going over it once so far. Got me some swingin room up in here now the WHOLE interior of the van After welding is done, let the re-building commence Interior from the drivers seat back is 54-1/2H x 77W x 129L Optimus XL-400w amp 2x 10s IMPP 400w 2x something or other in dash 2x 35w radioshack 8" full-range AcDelco factory radio "frankenstein'd from my dead buick" Dodge seats 1984 Chevy G30 full size 1-ton van "Rust Monster" Progress - around 15% primer/patching Sold the van in 2014, had it about 75% done, never did get the system in it. Grelko
Nothing too much today, just been sanding a couple bondo patches. HAHA, since I measured the van without the interior walls. If I made a box that filled in the whole section between the rear wheel wells, extended to the exterior walls then to couple inches from the back doors, instead of putting wood on the walls first, I could put 21x 12"s 4 rows from roof down, 5,6,6,4 since the ceiling curves in a bit, and it would only take up about 1/5th of the space in the van 60+ cubes just for the subs plus 2.5 - 3 inches of MDF for the sides of the box "actually its around 135 cubes from the wells back, but I would have the amps/batteries on the floor behind the box. Theres around 315 cubes from the back of the driver's seat to the back doors, I'd still have plenty of room for the couch, lights, front stage and more. Now if I just had the cash for it, then I would lol 129 x 54-1/2 x 77, and I would be using 54-1/2 x 56 x 77 "72 near roof" Optimus XL-400w amp 2x 10s IMPP 400w 2x something or other in dash 2x 35w radioshack 8" full-range AcDelco factory radio "frankenstein'd from my dead buick" Dodge seats 1984 Chevy G30 full size 1-ton van "Rust Monster" Progress - around 15% primer/patching Sold the van in 2014, had it about 75% done, never did get the system in it.
