battery/amp question

so i my aq2200 keeps cutting out due to lack of power when i turn the volume past 10/35. i did the big 3 already and it only helped a little. so the question is would i be able to run two yellow tops on my stock 80 amp alt? and if so would that be enough to power my amp.

That would definitely help. But what amp is the alt? It doesn't show up. It would best if you upgraded the alt depending what size the stock one is. That amp only draws 200 amp max and that's when you have everything cranked which i doubt you do all the time. The batteries will be great if you plan on just cranking it occasionally and not for a real long time

I have a stock 90 amp alt, I got it tested at my auto store and at idle it puts out only 50 amps. I'm running a KAC-9105d 1800 watt amp with the big 3 and 1 battery (under hood), well after 3 days of my new amp, my radio would cut for a second some times, I knew it was draining my battery pretty bad. Today I had to get jumped as my battery didn't have a good charge cause my stock 90 amp alt cant power my amp and charge my car at the same time with the power it puts out. my amp takes in 50 amps alone but is fused for 90 amps. I would recommend a High output alt first, but that's just me. I think I am gonna buy a jump start pack to keep in my car encase this happens again until I buy a new HO alt. If you get 2 new batteries I would charge them from time to time because a stock alt won't charge them up fully and power your electronics at the same time, and it will be a bit of strain on you stock alternator.

i have a smaller alt and bigger amps and i never had to get my car jumped...

I think that batteries will work just fine for what you're pushing. But later down the road a high output alt would be a good idea

yea i decided im not gonna waste my time and money on the yellow tops. im gonna get a xs d3400 with a ho 220 amp alt and then when i add another aq2200 to the equation ill pick up some more xs power batts

You can't go by what the auto store's tester says. They don't load up the alt properly and the guys running it have less of a clue than the engineers who built the damn thing do. You really need to clamp it on a load to test your alt properly. And I know there is a sticky thread on this subject around here somewhere. When i find it I'll post a link.
