So I connected another amp, this one is supposed to put out 1200W RMS at 1ohm and 700W RMS at 2ohm, i thought i had wired my subs correctly but i obviously hadn't because i connect my DMM to the terminals at the back of the box and the reading came out 2.3ohms, so i take it that the amp would see 2ohms and only put out around 700W RMS to both subs which is clearly going to be a problem, so i disconnected the one sub and still got a 2ohm reading, so now i thought i was making a bit of progress, but i turned it out and the sub sounds ok on some basses but the lows you can hardly hear or feel and they are moving a heap of air. I port in a make shift port which i worked out on 12volt.com that should give me a tuning frequency of 29hertz,

My box specs in inches

16.62 (Width) x 14.1(Height) x 14.9 (Depth)

0.74 (Thicknes)

= 1.68 cubic feet - 0.181 cubic feet sub displacment should give me a interal box volume of 1.499cbic feet per chamber.

My port lenghts, i tried 3" x 3.5" (sounds terrible for low end bass)

2.36" x 7.62" (Sounds ok but still not loud) that should = 29Hz tuned.

I want to feel the lows and make the door panels zing with the higher bass. I'm not sure what i should be doing from this point, the back of my subs are wired up + and + joined and - and - joined via a jumper and then + and - from the one set to the terminals at the back of the box, that gives me 2ohms for one sub, when i connect the other sub the same, they both go to the same terminal at the back of the box they still give me 2ohms. acording to diagrams it should give me 1ohm if i have both subs connected. I dunno ....

I told you how to check if your speakers blown. Take one sub and it 2 voice coils so take the negative and positive from one coil and put -/- +/+ to the amp if the subs working then it works, do the same thing with the other coil on the same sub, then repeat with sub 2. Simple?

Edit:didnt see second page.lol hook up the dmm to each coil individually

before u do that test the dmm by taking the negative on dmm and holding against positive on dmm and whatever it reads subtract that from what ohm ur reading on the subs

yea i did that and the subs are making sound, not scratching or anything like that, the ohms on the DMM are also stable and not jumping around, i read somewhere that if the subs are blown the ohm reading will also not be stable and depending no how its blown subs subs might make a scratching noise, i'm pretty confident now the subs are not blown. Thank you for you advice, never had to check a sub if its blown before.

@bassrace, i will check each coil individually and also subtract the difference from the DMM check. Didn't think about that.

@sayhuh, unfortionalty there are no external fuses on the amp you can visually see.... when i get a momement i will go and take some pics for you to see. There is also a link on page one of this thread to the manufacturer.

What would you guys recommend i set my subsonic and lpf to, at the moment i think its set at 25hz subsonic and 80hz lpf.

yes i removed the speaker cables from the box terminals and tested it at the box terminals, so no input power was going in. How do i calculate if i have 16sq inches of port per cube?
