Hertz_dont_it
Well we can't really say that were your gains are set isn't clipping, and you could have been clipping on your head unit as well. How dis you set your gains? Just by ear? yah by ear, i told the stereo place i had it set just under half and they said it would be fine as long as i didnt crank it up or turn the bass boost up. and i dont know any other way to set them. how could i tell if i was clipping? Quote Current system:Front stage: Alpine type s 6.5No rear:Alpine type s 6.5headunit: alpineAmp: Jbl bp600.1 Sub: Alpine type x 12 dont know much about them. Found a "FLUX" Capacitor on ebay. If I add this to my system, can I really travel into the future? And how far into the future? That probably all depends on how I ground it though, right?Dude dont even waste your money on capacitors get a second car battery preferably a kinetik or stinger or any other car audio battery use the battery that is correct for your systems true rms wattage do some research on the net for this. Go to kinetiks website they explain how to pick a battery from thier site that fits your system.
Hertz_dont_it
this is what it looks like but my sub is more circle and my amp more rectangle and theres a box. Well if your OA smoked on 600watts it's almost a sure thing you were clipping some way. Unless you got a faulty sub im sure you would have known that a long time ago since you've already had it for a month Quote so far... Hertz_dont_it
Pics of wiring would help also. Positive to Positive to Positive on amp, and Negative, To Negative, To Negative on amp should be 2 ohms final load. Sounds wired correctly, but then again. Are you sure you were not clipping it to hell? And when you said "They" Built your box.. Who is they? And did they do anything else? sorry i didnt see this post and the place is called inovative sound solutions (ISS) and all they did was build my box Quote Current system:Front stage: Alpine type s 6.5No rear:Alpine type s 6.5headunit: alpineAmp: Jbl bp600.1 Sub: Alpine type x 12 dont know much about them. kam311
So turn your gain down just a tiny bit and see if it still works. Just cause it smoked doesn't always mean it's blown, but it's never good Quote so far... matty matt
the reason your sub went out that fast is you did not allow the woofer to be broke in, from the factory the suspension is verry stiff, they need to be played gently till the suspension is loosened up. this will normally take a week or two depending on the hours of use, 20-25 hours is usualy good @ arround half power. then let it rip Edited September 8, 2011 by matty matt

That is NOT why your sub smoked! Disregard that comment lol Quote so far...
