But one problem (and why my next design will be vented) is that "IF" you go with several 10"s and 12" or even just a couple of 15"s... Or one 18" you will almost certainly have to run at least 3, maybe 4, 6" ports for said subs (to give them the optimum porting area, anyway).... > and then, the pros say, multiple ports give more port surface area, than 1 large port.... causing you to lose a db or two (because of air drag in the ports). Of course this is just what they say. My two 15"s are pretty loud, and cleaner than $#!+ with three 6" diam ports Maybe they would be 1 or 2 db's louder with a single 11" diam port (if you could find one that size) but I'm not destroying this box to find out. Probably a little goofy that I'd show you my slammin' round ports, and tell the next guy to go vented LOL But live and learn right ? Anyway.... I'm going to experiment with running all 3 port extensions shorter, but all the same length, to see if that helps.... but running only one or two of them full length, and one or two with no extensions at all, seems to be working quite well, as it is..... A slot port has a slight advantage of usually having lower port velocities. The downside is that kinks in the port limit output and the port itself displaces a lot of airspace within an enclosure making the overall size of the box larger. Aeroports use flares to minimize port noise. They also displace less space inside the enclosure and are easy to swap. Round ports are the cheapest but suffer the most from port noise. In a huge vented box, the above style of ports don't really make that much of a difference. The limitations on aeroports is really what you can find easily available (3" & 4") as opposed to whatever size you want with a slot port.

Exactly. And good luck if your running a couple 15"s, or even just one 18"..... You'd probably need like 10 4" ports, or 15 3" ports to get enough sq inches of port area ! Heck, I used 3 6" ports for my two 15"s, and 4 6" ports wouldn't have been way too much.... Fish

Fish I was looking at Aerio ports 1 db not a issue, but my choices are 3 3" or 2 4" ports this is for each Sundown SA-15 just like to try different tuning and winISD said current port was like 33.8 SMD Torres put it up at 40 Hz. Hope running these some wheres between 32-33 Hz would hit little lower not sure about 30 Hz. Any ideas always welcomed, was going to do a large open slot then again these subs get a lot of power seems like they get more back pressure in box with aerio ports. Then I could be wrong not the first and most likely not the last time my ideas were off. Only mentioned 3" can length is a issue at 15.25 these can go lower 31 Hz.
