I have a jvc kdr 620 and when i turn on the hpf setting on the head unit the sub becomes very quiet and the bass is cranked all the day down to -6 and i cant make it go up on the head unit at all. I can adjust mids and treble but bass just stays 60hz and -6 im running alpine type x 12 with alpine mrp m1000 amp. type s speakers in the doors. The bass knob on the amp gives it more power and i have my lpf on the amp set at 80 and my gain on normal according to the amp. is it normal for the hpf to make the woofer super quiet?

HPF= high pass filter. This means it will allow higher frequencies through while blocking the lower ones. The lower frequencies are what is played through your subwoofer.

I understand that much and the sub is still receiving the low frequencies but it doesnt thump. the bass setting on the head unit is stuck at -6 i can try and turn it up but then when i go to check to see if it workd its right back at -6

If you turn the hpf off will it go above -6?

Totally. and bass is the only one that is not effected when i try to adjust it when hpf is on.

and the l/o mode when set to subwoofer instead of rear is also gets softer.

????

ok..try this!

if is on your amp the HPF -turn it to 0, and set your LPF at 80(like mine)

then on your HEADunit set your HPF...and play it...

it worked for me
