CleanSierra Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 So I tore my sub box apart about two months ago to make a new one. I was running 2 RE SRx 12's in 1 cube a piece sealed. They were behind the seat of my 03 GMC Sierra. I've got 56" length, 15" height, and 5" depth top, 9" depth bottom. I've run it through Torres a couple times with a 2 inch slot port, and can get tuned to mid 36's with 19.60" of port PER foot for about 1.4 cubes. I realize this is half the space I need to run them in a perfect world(RE recommends 1.5 per sub). I DOOO have twice the power to run them though. SO the question is, I wonder if I can run the smaller space since I've got the power to make them do some work. Any suggestions or opinions are welcome. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

I don't think running them at that space with more wattage will be a good idea. I wouldn't do it because you will end up burning something. The speakers will not function properly. You have soo little space to port. Why not sealed again? Is tough to give advice on so little space. do a blow trough?

I'm not against doing sealed at all, but I've got time and wanted to see what I can get done. I do have space enough for 1 12" though. Having more power CAN make up for not enough air I believe, but wanted to know if any have tried it. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

I'm running my single 10" sub in 1.5ft^3 right now. I'm running my single 10" sub in 1.5ft^3 right now. I was really hoping you would be one to reply. Thanks for the info for sure. I didn't know if the power would make up for not having the air. I'll just go ahead and build it sealed for now before i grow the balls to cut big hole in a perfectly good cab and bed. It's gonna be an MDF shell with MDF speaker rings and fiberglass front. I've had all of the materials for a while now, but its been so far above 100 degrees that I haven't been motivated to get hot and itchy in the garage. Hopefully next weekend I'll get started on the thing. I'll also be frenching my amps into the side of an MDF center console as well. I can't wait...pics will follow when I start.
