CJ18
I have spent most of my day working on the mini van which I have a ton of videos of which I will post later tonight. The progress on mine today so far is only getting the internal bracing done. If you have ever had baffle flex, this is how you avoid that. Overkill? There is no such thing as overkill in car audio. One thing I will never being accused of is building something that wasnt strong enough. Have to make a run to home depot to get some screws with bigger heads so they dont pull through the baskets. Hoping to have the subs loaded tonight and get it playing tomorrow night.
CJ18
Small progress today. I had go to a stupid lunch with my family that was 2 hours away so not much got done today. It is ready to go but I am waiting on a spool of 0ga from KNU to run from my 3400 in the back into the cab to a d680 that is going to power my 2 175.4s and 1.2k. Once I get this run installed I will get her fired up next week. I will get the new center console started tomorrow and hopefully get the front trim panel started this week. The 4 channels and 1.2 will be installed once I get the trim built and installed.
CJ18
For those of you wondering what the hell I am going to do with a single 10" sub, here is your answer. Obviously not done yet but its hot and I needed a break so i figured I would post them up for now. This will get covered by a local upholstery shop in the same CF as everything else. CJ18
Almost done with the console just have a few more finishing touches to put on and then it will be taken to the upholstery shop and get covered. Once I get the console covered I will then get the 4 channels installed and the amp rack built for the 1.2k. I also have to find a home for my crossover. Also made 1 change to the front stage. It will now consist of 6 sets of AA carbon mids and 4 sets of Kicker SS tweeters. Will have 5 mids and 3 tweeters in each door and 1 mid and 1 tweeter in each kick. CJ18
Only have a little bit of finish sanding to do and the console is ready to be covered. There will be 4 switches. 1 for the 2 4 channels, 1 for the 1.2k, 1 for the 7.5k, and 1 for the LEDs. The hole closest to the driver will get the LC1. D680 tucked nicely in the back of the console. I am just waiting on some 0ga from KNU to arrive and I will get it run from the 3400 in the back to the 680 and then use 4ga to jump to the amps. Just have some finish sanding to do on the front and it will be done.
CJ18
Plan for today was to break out the meter and get clamped numbers from the 7.5k but my test tone disk got left in the Mini Van so I got stuck cleaning the shop. Did however get some new stuff in. 2 more sets of AA carbon mids to go along with the 2 sets already in the truck. I have 2 more sets on the way. Not sure what the exact plan for them is right now. Got tired of not having music in the shop so I took my spare D680 and hooked it up to my old Kicker 350.4 and wired up the 4 JL c2 6x9s for some tunes. I just plug my phone into the rca inputs of the amp and play pandora. Went to Radio Shack to get some solder and RCA ends and I left with that plus a new digital soldering station with adjustable temp. First time I have been able to see my work bench since I built it. And finally I received my toolmaker dual inputs.
CJ18
TL Scores before setting gains with DD1. Mic Position Scores sealed on the dash. 30hz 35hz 40hz 45hz Driver window down 45hz After setting gains with DD1. I was clipping like a mother fucker. Was seeing 129v before setting with dd1 and 109v after setting with dd1. Started with my previous best of 45hz and worked my way up. 45hz 46hz 47hz 48hz- This was my peak. Now who said F150s dont get loud. This was all done with the 7.5k. I still have to build the front trim to seal the box off which should gain a little bit for me as well. I am headed out no to install the 12k and see how they like it.
CJ18
Got some more meter time tonight. I was able to raise my best sealed on the dash score by adding the toolmaker dual inputs. Also have 2 more videos coming that I will add to this post.
