nickers Posted November 24, 2011 Report Share Posted November 24, 2011 the knock sensor can help keep timing in check, when it feelings a knock the piezoelectric crystal creates a voltage which then tells the electronic ignition to retard the timing, the knock could be predetonation or detonation, if the knock sensor isnt doing its job the timing may be off which causes poor gas mileage.
