help with alt please!!!

ok ill make a long story short

i just rebuilt my motor and trans. i ordered a 200 amp singer alt. i got the car put back together started great runs fine but if i hook the clamp to the wire coming directly off the alt i get 4.5 amps with the car running and as it runs the batt drains starts at 12v but slowly declines till car shuts off (shuts off at about 10.2 volts) im getting pics up right now ill post them.

any ideas??? thanks in advance!!!!

take in mind all the big 3 is the same as before and i have no amps or extra batts hooked up at the moment.

take in mind all the big 3 is the same as before and i have no amps or extra batts hooked up at the moment.

check to see if it has an adjustable voltage on it, my Mechman does and I can set high or low, now it may be a bad alternator, it happens. But chk if you can change the voltage on it first.

make sure you have the stock plug in, the one with the pins in it.

make sure you have the stock plug in, the one with the pins in it.

i checked that made sure everything was plugged in

maybe the engine is spinning too slow for the alt to turn on?

i put the original alt back in and she fires right up no issues

i just took it to an alt specialist (a place that builds them) payed 20 bucs for a test and it failed the regulator test. thanks for the ideas!!
