Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Kansas, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window. • Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line. • Front Side Windows Must allow more than 35% of light in. • Back Side Windows Must allow more than 35% of light in. • Rear Window Must allow more than 35% of light in. HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN KANSAS? Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light. • Front Side Windows No metallic or mirrored appearance. • Back Side Windows No metallic or mirrored appearance. So just flick the interior dome lights on and its not noticeable yea my WHOLE windshield is tinted only 20% so i can see lol the only way they can tell is if they are really close lookin at my inspection stickers cause in pa we have two sticker on the bottom left hand side of the windshield and i had to cut around the stickers. Derrick824 Posted November 15, 2007 Report Share Posted November 15, 2007 How much is does a window tint violation(5%) cost? does it vary by state? It all varies by state and the mood of the officer. I've been charged $400 for tint here in SC. The cost is up to the discretion of the officer. They have a minimum and maximum to go by. There's no such thing as fix-it tickets here, but I have had them tell me to take it off & show up at court and they'll drop the ticket totally.
