Kranny Posted November 7, 2011 Report Share Posted November 7, 2011 (edited) i appreciate the input yall. and i understand those two subs are nowhere near comparable. i was just trying to describe what i was looking for. the XXX was low mean and "thick" the AQ is tight and punchy. right now the AQ is tuned to 35Hz i was going to go with the recommended, but i love that low, suck the air out of your lungs bass. anyone have any exp tuning an AQ to about 30hz? Also, i said i do not have the money. i hate so sound like a newb, but i hate losing money on subs when they dont fit what im looking for. again, i do appreciate the input. brain fart: my buddy has a soundstream XXX 15 and it hits like the RE XXX did. Could the low frequency extension be due to the differing XMAX? Basically im looking for my sub to play 30HZ like most subs play 45HZ. Im going to try a new box with more bracing, lower tuning and see what happens. thanks yall no point in tuning audioque woofers that low. they can already play well below tuning. if you want lows, make a 4th order box. if you want to be low and loud as fuck, 4th order wall. (maliboom, for example) and its not just the different xmax. theres so many other variables that take into account how a woofer acts when you apply power to it. And to think the XXX and SD2.5 are anywhere comparable....sigh This. My subs play 7hZ to low 50hZ range because of my box and orientation. Not my subs. I didn't look once at T/S specs. pitchblackcls6 Posted November 7, 2011 Author Report Share Posted November 7, 2011 so it looks like i need to get some wood and just spend some quality time getting to know my car and how they interact together. its gettin chilly here so i dont have much time. cool guys, and a side note i firgot before, the XXX was sub and port back in a trunk, now the AQ is sub up and port back in the trunk, 6 inches of clearnce for the sub and 5 inches+ for the port to work.
