Please teach me a few things....

Okay, lets say (hypothetically speaking) that your amp(s) are capable of drawing up to 600 amps "peak" power. Now, lets say that you have an alternator / generator setup which can produce 800 amps continuous.

With the above situation, would an extra battery, or heck, 10 extra batteries help you whatsoever ? In other words, would their be any need to store power ?

And what about large capacitors ? If your alternator setup is pretty strong, and producing at least "close" to the peak power (continuously) being drawn by the amp, wouldn't a large capacitor or 3 be enough to keep everything running at full tilt ?

Anyway, when I see those comp vehicles with like 30 batteries or something crazy, I'm always thinking > "Get a real generator system in the first place, and you wouldn't need all those expensive, heavy, space robbing batteries !

Just curious,

Fish

PS, I wanna' build a 150hp car stereo ;)

I ve heard a alternator guy say.. he was wanting to change the industry. That's use to multiple batterys to start using multiple alternators and minimul batterys. You need at least 1 decent battery in the back to clean up the ripple and have some reserve. As far as capacitors.most are junk but there are some that work really well but mainly for burp cars. I'm going to be getting some shortly and ill post test results.

All alternators have a delay in output, few seconds, battery or cap no delay. Hope that helps!!!!

A delay ? Interesting. But still, wouldn't 1 or 2 big, strong batts, along with a really strong alternator setup, be totally fine ? .....rather than, an alternator setup that is struggling, and having to have a whole bunch of batteries, to store up enough juice ahead of time....

Hmmm,

Fish

PS, In fact, although I said "big, strong batts"...... How about a special purpose battery that doesn't hold $#!+ for amp hours. Pretty small, and light too. The only thing it has is BIG cranking amps ! Then again, I guess this is going from a battery, and leaning towards a large capacitor, huh ?

All alternators have a delay in output, few seconds, battery or cap no delay. Hope that helps!!!!
