Bass4Lyfe Posted November 13, 2007 Report Share Posted November 13, 2007 Okay so my brother took my car to Tahoe this weekend and I just got it back tonight. I rewired the (2 12") subs up, and went to get my screwdriver for the amp. I had unsrewed the 12V battery wire from the amp because I didn't want power to it while the subs weren't in. When I go to screw it back in I see sparks and it smells like something is burning. Okay, I blew the fuse? Nope, because when I try the subs it works. They aren't playing that loud, though ... This means that the fuse in the amp isn't broken because they work, right? But, it really isn't that loud at all. I'm thinking sometime in the last few weeks I blew out one or both of my subs. So I go to check them out in the back and they are both (seemingly) working fine. I know this is going to be hard to comment on, but any advice? Thank you all and I hope I didn't ruin / break anything .. .I'm really new to all of this. BackYardSoundZ Posted November 13, 2007 Report Share Posted November 13, 2007 Id double check your wiring, the same thing happened to my buddy because he rewired his subs he had a neg and a pos switched, it still worked but not at all what is was. Chris Posted November 13, 2007 Report Share Posted November 13, 2007 x2 on mrwigglesdj The internal mosfets are pretty much connectly to the chassis/ heatsink of any given amp, so if you touched the outer case with that screwdriver, there's a good chance one or more may have blown. It's always a good idea to take out the fuse instead of just disconnecting wires...
