eltortuga94
Can a port be too long? I have been going back and forth between WinISD Pro Alpha & Torres' Calculator and on one my enclosures I came up with a 50" long port, but port area & port area range were good. Would there be any problems with that long of a port? Quote System: Basically Stock In process of upgrading

SnowDrifter
Could you give me the dimensions of what you are trying to do? Yes, there is a problem - but it may not be depending on your application A port that long starts to act like a t-line (in this case, ~110-120hz) Depending on where you have it crossed over at - this may or may not be a problem Edited November 27, 2011 by SnowDrifter Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
eltortuga94
Can you post the Torres screenshot? yea, but I don't have the app thing on my computer where you can save a screen so I'll have to use a camera. You will be fine. Although there will be a bit more group delay with a longer port and it will be less efficient than a shorter one Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
eltortuga94
ok well I can't find my SDHC card for my camera but Net Volume: 2.40 cu-ft. Port Area Range: 28-23 in sq. Port Area: 33.75 in sq. Port Area Per Foot: 14.06 in sq. Tuning Frequency: 25.99 (I know that seems freakishly low but this was the only tuning that would effectively let me hit 28hz in WinISD & I love my lowwww notes anyways so I figured to just go with it, but I could be wrong) Quote System: Basically Stock In process of upgrading

Maybe I can convince you otherwise since I made that mistake I made a box tuned almost exactly to that. (26.1hz) - it hits 20 hz easy - but is a bit lacking on higher notes (55+) My other box tuned to 30 hits all the way down to 24 hz and plays anything I put through it I would tune between 29-31 and you will hit it just fine. What sub is this? This being said, you can still tune to whatever you want Edited November 27, 2011 by SnowDrifter Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
