tortoracer
Soon im going to take ownership of a bmw 528i (e39), and one of the things i want to do with it is get a very nice audio system in it. I hope somebody can help me with one specific question i have, the dsp option it has. what i plan on doing is getting a head unit, a pair of 12 inch sub's, and upgrading the speakers inside. what i know is the dsp will make everything difficult, and getting to the back speakers is difficult; i can figure out how to get to the back speakers. what i plan on getting: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-YZ6bNDAD8o6/p_113KDCX395/Kenwood-Excelon-KDC-X395.html?tp=5684 http://outlet.crutchfield.com/S-Ih7JKmpX5FE/p_613KAC9105/Kenwood-KAC-9105D.html?cc=01&tp=35834&nvpair=FFBrand|Kenwood http://www.crutchfield.com/p_2067C12VR4/Kicker-CompVR-07CVR124.html?tp=111 http://www.crutchfield.com/p_109GT65/JBL-GT6-5.html?tp=97 i have not selected speakers to go in the back yet. so what exactly do i have to do special, because i have a bmw with dsp? how does this effect me putting my head unit into the car? what do i have to replace? what can i keep in place? i dont really care if the dsp still works after, but if i want to re-sell the car, i want everything reversible. in your explanations, try to be very simple, and obvious. i literally know nothing about how a car is wired, or what it has from the factory. does a car have an amp from the factory? do i use that? how do i wire what i have? please help, i have been to 3 forums and this is basically my last hope!

SnowDrifter
I was under the impression that the DSP was just some sort of effects preset within the stock HU. If that's the case, it shouldn't be a big deal to just take out the stock radio and put an aftermarket one in As for the products: I have never really been a fan of kickers and I don't have any experience with the amp. The rest looks good (I have that same head unit) Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
tortoracer
i went to an audio expert around here, and he said that each speaker has its own little amp because of it. if i replace everything it is no problem, but that sounds COSTLY. he said he might be able to keep the stock speakers, but wire the new head in. if i have to replace everything again, that just sounds like WAY too much. does the stock speakers with new head sound possible? or am i doomed? No I do not have dsp. For subs I have 2 sundown SA-10's on saz2500. It's more of a SPL set up. As of speakers, I will be putting in set of DD i the front and alpine in the back( temporary) and set of sundown neo 8's in the back doors, powered by sundown sax100.
