If you are dead set on 1911 than Rock Island is the WAY to go... Dollar for Dollar the best 1911 available for sub 600 BNIB... In my personal opinion i believe you would be better off with a Glock or Springfield or Kahr... They are all great guns... Ultimately it will come down to what you want to carry and are comfy with... Also if you want it for HOME defense only then get FRANGIBLE Ammo... It will take down a human but will not penetrate walls.... And +1 on the ammo recommendations... either is a good choice.
