hhowell1990 Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) Looking at getting a second punch P500-1 for my sub, but before i do I'm going to need to upgrade my alternator, i found one at o'reillys that's a factory replacement for my truck that's 215a, with my current system would it be enough to keep up? ineeDBass419 Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 You'll be fine with that.but what are the chances of that stock alt actually putting out 215 amps? Quote xbox 360 gamertag-greenrocks420 Not insulting you or anything, but did you just call us "bloody winging fairies" ?
jmander11 Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 More info on current subs/amps? 1000 rms can be ran off a stock alternator... Quote
hhowell1990 Posted December 1, 2011 Author Report Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) You have 1000 watts total rms? the 2 punch P500-1's and a p400-4 for my mids and highs so ~1400 You'll be fine with that.but what are the chances of that stock alt actually putting out 215 amps? even if it's less it's probably going to be more than the 105a stock unit that's under the hood of my truck More info on current subs/amps? 1000 rms can be ran off a stock alternator... subs are 2 dc lvl3 15's I'm seeing voltage drops down to 12.5ish when i'm driving at 1500-1700 RPM's, i'm hoping to keep it up above 13.5 Edited December 1, 2011 by hhowell1990 Quote
jmander11 Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) Do you have a second battery? With my second battery I see around 13.5ish on full tilt at idle Edited December 1, 2011 by jmander11 Quote

G-Rad Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) Do the big 3 in 1/0 guage, if it's not done already. After which, you'll see more sufficient power. Clean your ground placements. Sand away paint to ensure better ground. Wouldn't hurt to get a Kinetik, or XS power battery under the hood.
