HunterJohnson Posted September 23, 2012 Author Report Posted September 23, 2012 Very nice work on the new box man! I've always wanted to try using biscuits for added strength. Any luck on the kerfs? I was wanting to try out a kerf'ed birch box when I get my new sub. Gonna try and kerf today...wish me luck lol first time trying it Little advice, do quite a few practices on scraps before you do the big pieces. Helps a ton! Yeah I need to add a kerf on the right rear so I'll have some practice. That box is lookin sexy man, love the attention to detail as previously stated. I hope you decided to do a plexi front baffle, i plan on doin some plexi on my next box, thinking about these after everything I've seen on em, would be niceee to show off those sexy asses Thanks! I just do not know how to mount the plexi on the front. I want the plexi to be flush sooo whatever thoughts you guys have let me know! I've got a few that I drew up in sketchup once, kinda hard to explain my idea though :/ please attempt to explain lol! DustinBolt Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 Your build just keeps getting better and better, love all the work and detail put into it. A little thing i learned from kerfing my box was that you have to go deep enough with the cut or the wood will snap. 1997 BMW 528i Fi ssd 12 6th order box Build Log- http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/144835-rebuild-in-the-bmw-6th-order-time-update-1113/
HunterJohnson Posted September 24, 2012 Author Report Posted September 24, 2012 DUDE! I have no idea how I missed this build. Holy shit you do clean work. I'm watchin now! Thank you for your kind words. I haven't been active and my build log is really cluttered. I'm waiting on a UBL to clean everything up! Your build just keeps getting better and better, love all the work and detail put into it. A little thing i learned from kerfing my box was that you have to go deep enough with the cut or the wood will snap. Thanks what's your secret to cutting it far enough. Leave a 1/8" where you are going to bend the wood. Or should I cut it even more?? HunterJohnson Posted September 26, 2012 Author Report Posted September 26, 2012 Got out of the doctors looks like breaking my nose could have been more serious than I thought. Doc said that I could have broke my bones in my skull causing brain fluid to leak!! WTF, anyways finally got home around 10 and started kerfing. I did a practice piece then I went ahead and cut the real front piece. Here's pictures for all of you! Thanks for following my build! HunterJohnson Posted September 26, 2012 Author Report Posted September 26, 2012 I think I'm not going to do a double kerf I dont have enough wood and It's not going to look clean at the end looking down the port if that makes sense. I'll 45 it like the original plan. Scion tC SQ BuildiPad mini, lots of fabrication, daily drivenFord Explorer C Pillar Wall Build Just a cheap car to destroy with bass
