thats true lol im so damn picky lol i do not want my roof to rip though lol and i know its on its way (especially with the gains i foresee )

i think the box idea is best i took a look at it and its doable for sure

i may be wrong but would it get louder with less waited energy from the roof flexing? does that makes sense like i think it does?

so on top of the progress you will see below i made some big changes to my doors lol they are about 40 pounds heavier each, i got some BEAST BEAST deadener...no more fat mat and did double layers of it on the outside door skins to try to stop the flexing that will rip them soon lol so i did that then redid the inner door skins also.

i went onto sealing the door panels with a bunch of gorilla tape on all the spots that leak when the bass hits so hopefully thatll do something...i did that on my old build and it gained me .5 db and idk why it wasnt done on this build so that got done.

This weekend i saw some serious box flex issues that i am doing my best to fix with some more bracing with steal and i was trying to figure out how to put on another baffle so i would have 3 baffles and a flush mount then some supports to hopefully stop it....as well as the added strength itll displace a little bit more in the box which i needed big time cause my box is far too big (purposely) so i will begin to displace more inside the box to try to get those cones under control.

You will most definitely gain from controlling the roof flex. At a local forum meet we were playing around with the termlab on a friends VW Lupo which had a wall with 4 JBL GT5 12"s in it. The car didn't have a sunroof so all the flex is at the windscreen join and it gained 3db with me lying on the roof. Is it just the resined headliner on it at the moment? You could gripfill a sheet of pre kerfed MDF to the roof and then bedliner the outside.

once i get everything back in and playing i will get someone to go on the roof and test it then make decisions on what to do.

yes right now there is 2 layers of cheap deadener on the roof, foam in all supports and the headliner

The pressure has to go somewhere so once you take it off the roof, the windscreen will flex loads more. Looking at the truck it slopes down quite a bit so my guess it will do pretty well. With the strengthening you've done to the doors and if you tune lower then you may find things start breaking in the engine bay from flex on the firewall and dash. If you didn't want to use the kerfed MDF on the roof you could put strips up that are the same thickness as the cross beams and then put a flat sheet of MDF to those and then drill through and fill the space left with expanding foam. You will lose some headroom but that probably won't matter as much in a truck as the hatchbacks i've been in that are walled.

you sir are the man lol i would agree that other shit will take the loud once the roof doesnt.

i really hope i have enough time to get the roof taken care of before march 20th (when i leave reno for so cal)....lots to do
