Time to wall this baby off. Due to my last computer crash, my original build log is inaccessible. Oh well...lets start this from the teardown.

What I started off with...

My gain control knob...

Clearing, and cleaning out the hatch...

I originally started with Peal N Seal...

Then I sprayed it down with bedliner...

Lastly I went ahead and mounted the knob in the center console and put the old box back in...

Next up was building a small temporary box to keep me a little bump while I saved some money and parts. It had about 1.5cu/ft of space, and was tuned just shy of 32hz. Here's pics of how it was built.

Layin out the 3/4" birch...I always use birch...

A little on how I made my flush fit double baffle.

IMG_20110520_154030.jpg

1) Place the gasket on the top baffle and trace it out.

IMG_20110520_154043.jpg

IMG_20110520_154050.jpg

2) I drilled holes on the inside of the inner ring through both layers, and then removed the top layer.

IMG_20110520_154311.jpg

IMG_20110520_154400.jpg

IMG_20110520_154400.jpg

3) Now you can take the gasket and place it on the bottom half and trace it out on the inside of the gasket like so.

IMG_20110520_154447.jpg

IMG_20110520_154439.jpg

IMG_20110520_154547.jpg

4) Now you can cut the piece you just traced, then return to the first piece and cut out the outside circle.

IMG_20110520_154922.jpg

IMG_20110520_155401.jpg

IMG_20110520_160017.jpg

5) Now just line the baffles back up, and secure them together.

Now for the refining of the box.

Alot of sanding...

IMG_20110521_152413.jpg

IMG_20110521_152709.jpg

IMG_20110521_153157.jpg

It HAD some gaps, but those were fixed...

IMG_20110521_152419.jpg

Now it was time to start working on the temp. floor. Laying down some braces...

IMG_20110521_162216.jpg

Now to lay the floor, and pull wires through...

All of the previous stuff was done from a couple of months ago...just to get me through until I could start the wall. Since the last time I documented, I have removed the back seats, and put down another floor that goes from the rear hatch to the front seats. Well, now the time has come to get serious. I've started making room in my car for the wall, and started purchasing some new equipment.

This is how the current wall sits in the car. Unfortunately its unlevel and needs some refinement...

Taking the equipment out...

This is how unlevel the floor was...

06.jpg

I took a 4x4 block and mounted it to the braces, and sanded/cut until it was level across...will be doing this to all four corners...

I've been running a FI BTL Fully Loaded 15". Due to me not giving a shit, I caused this sub to thermally malfunction. Take a look at what I'm doing now!

Already broke the woofer down...

I think it looks a little toasty...

I also found this under the hood. It wasn't blown, but it ruined the whole fuse box, and I'm gonna be needing a new one.

16.jpg

The basket. I haven't sanded it down and cleaned it, b/c I'm not sure if I'm keeping it 15" or gonna upgrade to 18"...

17.jpg

This is one hell of a massive slug...
