Voltmeter reading

I have 4 batteries in car. 1 under hood , 3 in trunk. My question is if i use a cig lighter voltage meter will i get just the voltage of front battery or average of all 4 batteries? is there a good low cost voltmeter i can use to mount in dash and what would i connect it to?

i have 4 batteries to in my car and i've got a volt meter that plugs into the cig lighter, seems accurate enough to me... and it won't read just the front battery. Total voltage

I think you get an average of the whole car. If you want the back battery's need to wire 1 to the back to tell u eaxcly how the back is doing.

sweet so i can get a nice voltmeter to mount somewher in dash but i cant find a descent spot to flush mount

i got a 02 monte ss and dont know what kind to get and not sure how mushc space i actually have to put one

i have one more odd question but , say the battery under hood would go bad would the other batteries start car and run it .. i have always just wondered what would happen if it ever happened

Ideally, you want a voltmeter connected to the amps + and - because the largest voltage drop is at the amp (inside on the transformer), then rear batts if there are rear batts, then front batt, then the rest of the cars electronics.

a stinger volt meter is the most common seen on this site, its about $20 and is a simple 3 wire hookup

ok i have 3 rf amps and 3 batteries in spare tire well and 1 under hood..so technically i should have7 meters?

i listed order of priority when connecting one meter. you only need 1 and its almost always going to be connected to the sub amp since that amp will be drawing the most current.

if you have your bd1500s sync'd then use the master amp
