snoop3111 Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 Ok, so I recently bought an amplifier on here and the day I got it, it blew...fishy but Im not really concerned about that. I Bought a Planet Audio BB2400.1 for $200 shipped which I thought was a pretty good deal after seeing the same amp go for 230-300. Anyway Its blown now and Planet Audio says its going to cost $170 more to fix it. But I have also looked on sonic electronics and they sell them for about $260 shipped with a 1 year warranty. Should I pay to have it fixed? There are NO car audio amplifier repair shops in Rochester that I can find that will look at it. I would really liked to have it fixed by a private company or individual for less. If I did buy a new one on sonic would anyone even be willing to buy the blown one? Im conflicted, what do you guys think I should do?

No, Only one amp blew and I have no idea why it did this but when I was testing it, it was blowing all of my smaller fuses so when I went to change the fuse, I put the new one in and as soon as the fuse made contact with the fuse holder it sparked. It did this several times before, but one time I put it in and sparked I heard a shit load of popping noises from the back and my heart just dropped...and when I opened the hatch smoke just poured out. Weird thing is thought the protect light never came on and the power light still comes on, it just doesnt send any power. It also does not have any external fuses or internal from what I can tell. I have a limited budget and I need something thats going to put out 1200-1500 RMS at 2 ohms.

Super cheap on sonic and does 1200@2 ohms I know, but would you recommend that over the 2400.1 for 2 12 L7's? Im leaning toward 1500 watts but I plan to upgrade to 2 DC Lv4's or 1 Lv 5 and the birthsheet on the BB 2400.1 says it does about 2k RMS. edit: I also have 1/0 gauge wire and the Brutus only has 4 gauge terminals
