Decaf Posted December 21, 2011 Report Share Posted December 21, 2011 you should be using sd not the area of a 12/18" circle. if you are multiplying by the same xmax whichever is the largest cone area will have more vd. again tho, this doesnt determine which will be louder, just which can displace more air on all notes. sd is cone area, assuming proper measurements were made. The numbers in this thread are all pretty much junk though. Cone area is a linear measurement btw, dont measure the depth of the cone and calculate it as a true cone, just as a flat piston. sd is the effective piston area... the area of a 12" circle is 729.288864 cm^2, yet the sd of a 12" sub is 480cm^2... so it matters A LOT when comparing different size sub setups Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it.
