JPagan Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I installed one of these powering a 13w3v3 at 2ohms and it is running quite warm especially considering its like 30 degrees around here. I set the gains using a dd1 so I know it isnt clipping and voltage is steady at 14v full tilt. Im wondering if these amps just run hot or what?
EVAlonSo Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Make sure your grounds are good. take a dmm and put on lead on the negative terminal at the amp and put the other lead on the negative terminal at your battery. set the dmm to voltage and play system at full tilt. the meter will tell you what your voltage drop is. if it is high your ground may need to be replaced or the wire needs to be upgraded. do the same for power. even if its concluded that the amp runs hot, it doesn't hurt to test your connections properly and make sure they are tight.
