Second Skin questions

I have dynomating in my trunk of my 2003 ford focus se. Now I want to get the second skin alpha damp tiles. Now I have never used anything besides dynomating. So, when it comes to installing it. I am clueless. Anyone have any pointers on how to install and should I get enough just for the trunk or more? Any suggestions will be nice. Like should it be put in like to cover the whole trunk or certain parts. My dynomating is covering my whole trunk except my the back of my seats. Or if there is a web-site with install help let me know. Thanks in advance.

Our products install just like any other sound deadener, cut to size (if and when necessary), peel off the paper and stick. No heat needed and use of a roller is always a good idea but not 100% necessary.

With Alpha Damp it's best that you use it on just the flat panels because of the thickness of the foil can make it difficult to install on some curved surfaces.

We recently updated our instructions for Alpha Damp, so I would recommend you read them and ask any questions after.

That helps. But, only flat part in my trunk is the board cut out I made that is an exact fit to the floor mat that I had in there stock And then the under part of the trunk lid. Rest is not flat. Think I have to find someone with it in a car similar to mine to see how they did it. I hear nothing but great reviews on it. And the dynomat is not doing its job.....

Flat is a relative term. For instance I would consider most of this fairly flat.

This is what I would consider proper usage of a sound deadener with a thick foil, such as Alpha Damp. Notice he has really only treated the 'flat' areas and avoided the ribs and really curved surfaces. In fact he probably could have gotten away with using less material.

I just bought eighty sq ft of damplifier and was planning on doing as much as possible inside my reg cab silverado. Should i only cover holes and do the flat parts or go with my original plan of covering as much as possible?

Just apply it to the sheet metal, don't waste it by using it to cover holes or anything like that. If you want to cover holes, use mass loaded vinyl as it would actually help block sound.

I would start with 25% panel coverage and then go from there. Tapping on the panel to see how and where it resonates really helps. Once you hear a nice solid 'thud', move to the next panel.
