tdc3187 Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 I took my car to have a ho alt put on. Dropped the car off last Friday, the guy said he couldn't finish the work until Monday. So I rent a car and wait. Monday rolls around, the guy says I can't get this alt to fit. I tell him to just put it back to stock and I'll deal with the company. Five days later, my alt fails. Wtf! My car isn't charging at all, resting voltage 10.8-11.5. I don't know anything about alts, anyone have any possible solutions. TeamHT Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 Make sure the shop installed the alternator correctly. Another thing is, if you attempted to install a High Output alternator then you have excessive current demands, I am assuming. If your alternator was working overtime to maintain a charge. It is definitely possible. Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
tdc3187 Posted December 23, 2011 Author Report Posted December 23, 2011 Is it that big of a coincidence? I never dropped under 13.00 volts before I dropped it off. The biggest problem is I can't get to it because of where it's located. Side note I am supposed to drive 2 hours tomorrow after work to be with my family. Now I'm freaking out because I only have one car.
