Is this box specs okay for my two 15xl's?

Recommended Posts

I am new to box building so I just wanted to know if the measurements and specs that I have are correct. If you see anything wrong with it, could you please let me know so I could tweak it a bit to get it corrected. btw, this will be going into a extended cab s10...

disregard my first pic... that was a mistake...lol

You forgot to add # common port walls.:peepwall: What kind of power are you going to be pushing to them? Over all it looks good but power is/should dictate. I ran 2 15" xls in my 01 s10 in a box a hair over 6 cubes on a DC 3.5K under the window line and it was nasty and won me world in S3. All in a box designed to be daily and demo the heck out of.

That would work but personally I would lower the port area and shrink the box to the recommended volume. For DC's I use recommended area or a tad smaller depending on power. As for port area i would lower it to the 14-16 inch range. Especially if its more for listening enjoyment than spl numbers on a mic. Dont make the port any skinnier either, reduce the width.

That will give you little more room in the vehicle too. The smaller port area will shorten the port length and reduce the gross volume even more.

Yea, check the number of common port walls and im assuming your going to brace this in a few places inside. Add your bracing displacement also.

I will be running two sundown saz3000's so 3k each sub. Would you guys recommend 3cu. each sub with that much power? how do i find out how much #common port wall i have? i am only gonna have a slotted port on top with the subs facing forward. As for the bracing, im not sure how much i will be using also... what would you guys recommend for the bracing... a all thread bolt or wooden dowels?

Quality is all in how you take pictures ;) I have plenty of projects that look WAY better on camera then in person :D

crazy to fit so many in so little. Reminds me of some of the porns I've seen?

2 3ks and 2xls... so 3k per sub before rise. Common walls will be the same number of walls that are actually the box itself. So if your port is using the back of your enclosure wall and the sides then you would have 3 common wall. Are you chasing numbers or taking it to comps? Or is this just to beat on? With that kind of power id stay around 3 cubes if not right at 3 cubes. Port area and tuning will depend on your final goal. Most s10s run port up along the back glass and subs forward. Ive had good luck with port up on drivers side and subs up. Either way sounds like its going to be a nasty dime! Post some build pics when ya get started! :drink40:

With the power you have available, 3.5ft^3 per sub will be fine. I'd personally shrink the port area a tad so you can get a little lower tuning and have the same port displacement...up to you though.

U am going to have my setup as a daily... i actually am going to wall it, thats why i'm going sub forward port forward... My truck is 3" traditional bodydropped so i loss sone airspace... A friend told me if i am going for a daily, i should have the port on top facing forward for best results. the max space that i have in my cab is 33.5h x 46w x 19d... i figured i have the depth of 17" for the box so i can drive comfortably.
