Ive decided to start a build log for my 1998 Blazer. It wont be anything fantastic, and the main idea behind this build is budget. I love spl, but Ill be going for a happy medium with this build--loud and attempt to keep it aesthetically pleasing.

Equipment:

Head unit-Kenwood kdc945BT

Power acoustik 7 band EQ with 8 volt line driver

Two 8 inch mids per front door, 2 tweeters per front dash side

6.5 inch full range speakers

MB Quart Discus 4.80, MB Quart Discus 4.50

2 SVR 1200 batteries, 2 runs 1/0 American Bass Power

Temporarily Orion HCCA5000, (has issues, will be replacing)

2x 15" American Bass XFL dual 2 subs (previously 12s in photos)

And more to come. Its a work in progress, of course after hours and in between all the other stuff I have to work on. This equipment will likely go through some changes along the way as well. I havent decided if I want to attempt a C pillar wall in this blazer, or if that is simply not enough depth. If not, I will obviously stick with some form of street style enclosure, and try to keep it all at the window line. Pics being posted as I go. Thanks for checking it out.

wiring up the amp rack. Mono amp up top, one of the 4 channels below. This is going to be temporary. Something to get me by until I have a better plan for this space.

temp box we used for some type r subs for a bit. actually gets pretty damn loud and low.

i know, the edges are very ugly. again, this was temporary, and the baskets on these XFl 12s were much larger than the r's. had to modify it a bit, lol.

some very inexpensive budget equipment for the front doors.

rings are mounted. wood hot glue is amazing

test fit for depth

side by side shot. not bad symmetry considering the curves in these doors.

first one wrapped in fleece and ready for resin. spray glued down.

second panel ready for resin.

i left these to dry a little more tonight just for the spray glue. ill start the resin tomorrow. probably end up doing two fleece layers, maybe even mat in between. then on to the bondo. will update once i hit these steps. also more install pics to come with the eq (center console, with din dvd player slot), head unit, wiring etc.

thank you. tomorrow should be a fairly slow day at the shop, so i should be able to get quite a bit more accomplished on these. i got a first layer of resin on one, matted and ready for a second layer. then on to the second one, and lastly start smoothing them with bondo. heres a pic of some of the rough progress on one panel today. i had a mess going. should be better tomorrow. i didnt stretch the fleece as tight as i would have liked so it caused a few issues.

Glad to see you post a build log. I might come down to the shop tomorrow or Sunday, to see the progress in person. I'll be making my building within the next few days. I'm just lazy cause I normally switch setups to often lol.

Apparently I screwed up on reloading the pics. So big they wont even load on my comp. Works on my phone though. If these aren't fixed and this thread needs to be restarted just let me know. Apologies.
